Björn (BjornMolander)'s Home

Welcome to my photo galleries. My first galleries are my underwater photos taken along the west coast of Sweden from February to August 2004 and in British Columbia, Canada, September 15-21, 2004. When our trip to Canada was planned I thought it would be nice to be able to take some underwater photos there.
I took some underwater pictures with a borrowed Nikonos camera about 15 years ago, but, now I got the idea of using a digital camera. My dive buddy John helped me a lot searching the Internet for cameras and underwater houses. Thanks John!
My dive buddies photo galleries with pictures from Quadra Island are at:

My camera during 2004 and 2005 was an Olympus Stylus 400 (mju 400) with an Olympus PT-016 house. I used an Epoque ES-150 DS strobe on a 10BAR flexy arm (initially 16 cm later 36 cm long) and slot stay. Since April 2006 I am using an Olympus sp-320 camera with an Olympus PT-030 house and two strobes. I also have a macro lens and a wide angle lens. The strobe is triggered by the camera's internal strobe via an optical cable. I bought a piece of optical cable and made my own attachments to the strobe and the underwater house. In oder to avoid the backscatter from the camera's internal strobe I cover it with an IR (pass) filter made out of two layers of unexposed but processed strips of color film for slides (process E6 I think). I use a torch on top of the strobe to illuminate the object in order for the camera's auto focus to work and also to show where the strobe is aiming. I found a lens at home that was suitable for Macro and made an attachment for it. An envelope (original or home made) with silica gel is placed in the house to avoid fogging of the lens. After use it is heated to 110 C for 5-10 minutes and re-used. For longer trips when I don't have heating possibilities I keep a set of envelopes in a waterproof (50 m) box. When necessary I copy the images of the picture card to a photo bank (X's-Drive Pro) but otherwise I use a second card for dive # 2. I show the equipment in my photographic equipment gallery.
